Substance abuse testing includes urine drug screen
(NIDA and non NIDA) and breath alcohol screening, which are procedures to meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (49 CFR 391.41). Increasing numbers of employers require a pre-placement or post-offer drug test as a condition of employment and have adopted it as a corporate policy. Many companies are now including random drug testing as part of their workplace health and safety programs, particularly for safety-sensitive positions.
